What would you do?

Im 23yrs old, over half way into my plumbing apprentiship now and dont really feel like im getting anywhere because you get thrown round like a ragg doll and theres sooo much in it, very wide indeed. my worry is that im finding it hard to find my feet in my career, will i come right, I want to be good at what I do, but cant see the forest from the trees! Thanks

What would you do?
whenever you are felling like this, it has nothing to do with the job, it has everything to do with you. Naturally, when we are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, afraid or we just don't get it, we react by externalizing and looking for an escape. The reality is that you are really and truly inside the job, and you are now about to discover what you like and what you don't like...and the fear is fighting any progress as you struggle between the desire to succeed and the comfort zone that exists when you drop out.

It is essential to stick with it, regardless of how overwhelming it may seem, since you will continue to progess step by step with every day and every hour you continue. Practice mindfulness, be mindful of your attitude, remember this is a time that you will reflect and remember, the struggle, the moment of accomplishment and all the in between, and you will say "I am so glad I stuck with it."

Visualize your success, and make every day be a fresh new start to a new level of understanding. Be your own job coach, and put a really inspiring saying in your lunch bag, and pack a little treat for the last break of the day. Be sappy and kind to yourself, in order to remember the strong and brilliant person you are within. And remember that you will always meet people who can teach you things, even if they might be mean, or angry, or nasty...in this you will remember to draw on your inner strength and find the extra bit of willpower to get through. You don't need to see the forest from the trees, you are on the path that goes right through them!!!! Have faith in who you are and where you are going.
Reply:Being your only 23 years old, you have a long way to go until retirement...I didn't find the love of my career until I was at least 28.. Do what you love to do as you spend more time working in life than a lot of things. :) If you love this....hang on to it as everyone has bad days and good days. Best of luck to you in finding your way!
Reply:Old boys in the trade I've met always recall their awful apprenticeship days.

Friends having more money and all that.

Britain has a desperate shortage of plumbers, so it can't be all easy can it.

Good luck, whatever you decide.
Reply:You're halfway through so keep plunging on.

The learning process is always the toughest part.Once you get through the apprenticeship -- you'll find your feet. You've gone to far to quit.
Reply:What........you want to start out at the Masters level........don't think so..........start at the bottom like the rest of us or push burgers at McDonald's for the rest of your life...........you choice.......
