Shuffling slowly along the path, trees on either side
careful not to match the pace of anyone elses stride
the air is cold and clear and the wind is softly blowing
along the path to school in the morning of the day.
No one smiles or shows emotion, --unless they walk in twos
walking through the weather with hats and thick-soled shoes
and umbrellas for rainy spells, hair spray for the wind
breezing on our fuzzy coats along the path to school.
Is this poem any good and also what does it mean?
It looks to me like the introductory stanza of a (much) longer poem. Perhaps it memorizes the author%26#039;s walk to school, and I wonder wat comes next.
It is quite introverted, so it will not be to everyone%26#039;s taste, but I like it well. Style, rhythm and length give this poem a nice old-fashioned touch. Maybe you found this verse when you cleared your granny%26#039;s attic?
Reply:its an alright poem, i%26#039;d say it means just enjoying outside and it helps to have a friend along, its better with a friend, even n the rain.
Reply:I write poetry, and I believe I understand what good poetry is. I call this prose, since absolutely no effort has been applied to make it rhyme. That is an art in itself and to make it sing is a gift. This does none of these things. It has a little merit as mental junk food, but it makes no statement of a higher truth or wisdom. It just describes a walk down a path. Nothing special. It doesn%26#039;t %26quot;mean%26quot; anything to me.
